Glenda Woods Girls University (GWGU) Summer Camp
Glenda Woods Girls University is a full-day summer day camp for girls in 1st-5th grade. Each week has a different theme and includes core activities in art, science, reading, and sports. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks provided. Weekly field trips and swimming!
For girls in 1st-5th grade
- Cost: $150/girl per week*
- Monday, June 2 – Friday, August 1, 2025

GWGU Weekly Themes 2025
Week 1: June 2-6 Mind + Body: Building Healthy Futures
Girls will learn to care for their mental and physical health through activities focused on mindfulness, nutrition, fitness, and smart choices for a balanced life!
Majors: Psychology, Nutrition & Dietetics, Kinesiology, Public Health, Health Education, & Neuroscience.
Week 2: June 9-13 She’s on the Money: Dream Big, Plan Smart
Girls will explore needs vs. wants, smart spending, and budgeting through fun activities, building confidence to manage money and achieve their goals!
Majors: Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Marketing, Accounting, & Consumer Science
Week 3: June 16th-20th HER Story: Celebrating Girls Who Inspire
Girls will explore the stories of influential women in history while expressing themselves through creative writing, poetry, art, and role-playing, all while building confidence and celebrating girl empowerment!
Majors: History & Women’s Studies, Creative Writing & Literature, Fine Arts & Theatre, Leadership & Gender Studies.
Week 4: June 23rd-27th Girls Dig It!
Girls will dive into hands-on STEM adventures that spark curiosity and creativity! From uncovering the wonders of paleontology to building fun engineering projects and solving real-world problems, girls will explore STEM in exciting and interactive ways.
Majors: Paleontology, Archaeology, Geology, Engineering, Environmental Science, Mathematics, & Technology
Week 5: July 7th-11th Imaginarium Wonder: Dream & Create
Girls will spark their imagination and creativity through art, science experiments, and designing their own inventions, inspiring big dreams, and innovative thinking!
Majors: Fine Arts, Architecture, Creative Writing, Design Thinking/Innovation, Education, & STEM.
Week 6: July 14-18 LeadHERship in Action
Girls will build confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills through fun activities and projects. They’ll learn how to take initiative, communicate effectively, and work together to make a difference in their communities. Inspiring young girls to become confident leaders and active change-makers!
Majors: Women’s Studies, Psychology, Leadership & Management, Education, Public Health, & Sociology
Week 7: July 21st- 25 Girl Gears: Powered by STEM
Girls will explore the exciting world of STEM through hands-on activities and experiments. From building simple machines to coding and solving engineering challenges, they’ll discover how STEM powers the world around them and fuels their imagination and innovation!
Majors: Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical), Computer Science, Robotics, Mathematics, Industrial Design, & Physics.
Week 8: July 28- Aug 1st Catching Fire: Ignite Your Greatness
Girls will find their spark through activities that build confidence, leadership, and teamwork. They’ll set goals, make smart choices, and prepare for a successful school year and future!
Majors: Leadership Studies, Education, Psychology, Business Administration, Communication Studies, & Sociology.
RISING LEADERS 2.0
Rising Leaders 2.0 summer day camp for rising 6th and 7th grade girls. Each two-week session focuses on leadership skills and self-confidence with a focus on the ‘Whole Girl’, emphasizing wellness, community service, and empowerment. Girls will create lasting friendships, empowering them to grow personally and make a positive impact in their communities. It’s a girl’s world and during RISING LEADERS 2.0 girls will Get Informed – Get Inspired – & – Get Going!
Rising Leaders will have the opportunity to…
- Be empowered by uplifting and motivating sessions
- Participate in activities that inspire confidence and creativity
- Engage in community service projects that foster a passion for giving back
Cost : $150 per session
Session 1: June 2-13 Pawsitive Impact
Girls will develop compassion, respect, and responsibility through individual and team leadership activities, animal welfare education, and designing a community service project to benefit local animal shelters. Pet care and kindness, animal careers, and upcycled animal enrichment items are all part of this two-week experience
Session 2: June 16-27 Fighting Hunger and Feeding Hope
Millions of children, seniors, and families live in homes where food is not consistently available. A complex issue but one that can be tackled. Girls participating in this two-week session will be inspired, learn about compassion, empathy, understanding the factors that contribute to food insecurity and design a take action project to make a difference here in San Antonio.
Session 3: July 7-18 One Planet – One Future
A two-week session of discovery and learning. Girls will learn about the importance of conserving and preserving our environment for future generations. Improve your project planning, critical thinking, and teamwork skills all while using natural resources responsibly.
Session 4: July 21- Aug 1 To Close to Gone – Endangered Species
Connectivity matters for wildlife and people! During this two-week session girls will learn to solve problems, work as a team, and how important resiliency is to people, animals, and our world. Learn more about endangered animals, wildlife conservation, and how you can make an impact.
Camp Program Aides (CPA’s) 2025
- Summer Leadership and Service Program for rising 8th, 9th, and 10th grade girls.
- All CPA’s must be at least 13 years old by May 1, 2025 in order to participate.
The CPA program is a summer leadership and service program. CPAs will be partnered with staff over the summer to implement exciting activities offered each week during GWGU. Participants will gain valuable leadership skills, increase personal confidence and networking skills, learn how to facilitate groups, and be a role model for younger girls. CPAs will work with children of different ages and abilities, creating and managing positive group dynamics, and assisting campers with program activities.
All participants are asked to commit to a two-week service commitment, the weeks will be consecutive by session design. Each session participants will participate in weekly field trips, swimming and a Leadership Luncheon with leaders in our community.
Cost : $30 per session

Program Scholarships
Program scholarships are available for those who qualify and subject to availability. Parents/Guardians must provide proof of income for all adults in the household. Our maximum scholarship award amount is $75 per week. Please submit all required documents at the time of registration; incomplete paperwork cannot be processed.
NOTE: You must first register your child for Glenda Woods Girls University Summer Camp before your program scholarship application will be processed.
